If you’ve read my posts on Greece, you’ll know how much we love it! Naturally, all the news of Greek crisis is saddening π
Well, I have only good things to say about Greece. We’ve been holidaying for past two summers there and planning a third one as well. And you should too!Β Here’s another holiday memory from the Greek island of Mykonos. I hope my pictures do make you want to go there. π
I have a simple story to tell, about this travel. Post cupful of concoction of art, architecture and history we flew to Mykonos via Athens on a short 45min flight last June. Stayed on Elia Beach at Myconian Villas Collection. Β That we had a great, sunny, relaxed beach vacation with some of the best wine and food and weather that we’ve had on all our holidays put together.
Pretty close to definition of ‘bliss’, is it not now? π

That’s right! That’s what we’re talking about…
You can find my review of Myconian Villas Collection on TripAdvisor, ‘course I’ll be dabbling here as well, as I post pictures.

And here’s the immaculately white washed Myconian Villa Collection loaded with minimalistic elegance.

Our stay at Myconian, done with tasteful elegance and completely in tune with the spirit and soul of the island.
We enjoyed the sun loungers and the jacuzzi in our balcony that overlooked the Aegean-bluest of the seas!

Myconian Villas Collection stands perched on a hill over Elia Beach.
This side of the island is otherwise thinly populated so if you’re looking for a private getaway, you’re looking at the right place π

The ‘blues’ that you’ll long for.

We arrived here on an early morning from the airport via the transport arranged by the hotel itself.
The lovely drive through the island takes around 20 minutes or so orienting you to the island on the way.

Often, these three words are all that’s needed to make a great (and good) differences – ‘Attention to detail!’
That’s our room number!

Both rooms and corridors of the hotel are awash with light.
That’s something I always look for & love in a hotel!
You have to do it to believe it, that, you could call it a holiday without making a mad dash to museums and without being under the weight of a back pack from dawn to dusk.
Just being a lounge lizard, is all it can be.
While practising ‘dolce far niente’Β (the sweet idleness) by the pool inhaling lungful of fragrant mediterranean breeze and locking eyeful of sights in memory boxes that could light up the dullest of days we gobbled on the only vegetarian snack available and sipped lemony drinks that filled the meagre gaps between the ice cubes.

While Adi couldn’t tear away from his book I parted with mine and got to what I do best under sun umbrellas on sunny vacations – People watching!

Although I regrettably missed capturing a man slipping and falling into the pool on camera (there goes my 250 quid for you’ve been framed π ) but I did find something else π

While at my observation, this caught the eye.
A giant golden grasshopper waiting at each table.
Did I say whoever did this hotel has great sense of aesthetics?
And then we moved on to explore more absorbing corners of the hotel.

And pocket full of posies…
There were more such artefacts and pleasant surprises at every turn of the hotel.
It is practically physically impossible to remain holed up in hotel, no matter how engaging, when you have shores of Aegean that you could walk up to anytime you want!
Neither could we.

Love ‘ALL’ the blue π
Elia beach is one of the prettiest on the island of Mykonos (reason why

It’s a downhill walk to Elia beach which as you can see is decently long.
The journey back, however, will definitely burn you some good calories.
You could jet ski, parasail, swim, walk, run or get a foot massage by one of the many masseuse & masseurs who keep coming with their oils and potions to you. Or you could be me – people watch!

We walked unto the furthest end of the beach on the grainy golden sand where the shore gets a little rocky.

Between the warmth of the sun and cool water soaking the feet, was a perfect place to be!
Some more info on our stay-
The island of Mykonos is known for it’s vibrant nightlife and ‘happening’ beach parties. Some of the beaches literally swarm with crowds partying day and night. My suggestion would be to pick your place of stay accordingly lest the beats keep you awake throughout your holiday!
To make it easy for you, in general south coast beaches are more popular with tourist (meaning stays more expensive). Paradise beach and Super paradise beach are out and out party beaches. If your holiday is more of family oriented and/or a ‘couples’ getaway’ Elia beach, Platys Gialos & Agios Stefanos (on west coast of island) are excellent choices.
Myconian Villas Collection is one of a group of three hotels close to one another over Elia Beach, all properties are equally beautiful.
It is perfect place for a private and laid back holiday where you can enjoy one of the beachside activities or thalassotherapy at the hotel.
Elia Beach is as such a public beach and LGBT friendly. A small portion of beach is sort of ‘private’ for Myconian guests. Towels, lounge chairs, drinks are available for the in-house guests.
There are several sea food restaurants at the beach.
The hotel is a bit off the city centre but several daily shuttle buses run to and from the Mykonos town.
While spending the day at the hotel grounds you can spend your evenings in Mykonos town wandering the laid back alleys and doing the essential sight seeing and grab a sea side dinner from one of the many wonderful option in the city before taking the bus back.
June, July, August are the busiest and best time to travel in Greece.
Seaside places can get a bit chilly and very windy as the night falls so taking a light jacket or a stole is recommended.
Well! folks, that’s all I can churn out at the moment while pining for it as I type the next word and post another picture. I’ll be writing about the beautiful Mykonos town and it’s MUST DOs in forthcoming post.
See you then!
