What happens in Vegas…Need Not Always Stay There!

Share

Lights, sparkle, craziness, casinos, chips-n-cheques, the strip (and ‘-pers’) and all the ‘works’! A world within a world. Where day and night swap places. That’s Vegas Baby. After New York and L.A., our big trip to Americas took a zip along the Vegas strip.

Sharing some memories of the same.

Landing in Vegas is like landing in middle of nowhere. Even so, the city’s character truly reaches the airport. If a list of movies and word of mouth hasn’t given you an idea clear enough about it, the airport will.

From the airport we hired a cab all the way through the razzle-dazzle of the city to reach our hotel.

Hotel Paris, Las Vegas.
We stayed here.

First impression of the place was pretty befuddling as we came under a partially cloudy day sky from a clear star speckled night sky!!

Our room was pretty nice with a nicer bathroom. But the nicest thing about it was the view.

Night drawing in on Vegas.

Come nightfall and there begins the dance of Bellagio fountain.

Now that’s what I call a room with a view.

I would really recommend staying at Hotel Paris for this one thing. It is seen and captured most beautifully and wholly from this place. As your room goes higher your view gets better. Since its synchronised with music, you can open your window and let the music in. Although you must try to view it at a close range with few nudges from the crowd gathered around it, to say this is certainly better.

The windows overlooking the fountain were ablaze with flashes of cameras trying to capture this.

It’s interesting to see how they’ve managed to replicate the Eiffel Tower, among other things.

Having enjoyed the show of ‘bella’ Bellagio fountain it was time to see the city in action – up close. Also it‘s a shame to keep a sense of time in Vegas. Since I was wearing a watch, I better keep it concealed.

Bellagio stands majestic behind me.
Streets abuzz all around

The glowing phosphorescent city!

Eiffel Tower II

While the grandeur of hotel was impressive, the smell of booze, smoke and sweat was overcoming to unwonted senses. I know, saying it would be like complaining about the snow where you’ve come skiing. It was a ‘grin and bear’ situation.

While night is still quintessentially young back in the city, we’re back.

In or out Vegas is the place for never ending madness…

That keeps intensifying with the hour!

I must say the place has rubbed quite well on…err…

Well, it goes without saying.

Upside down? Everything is fair in love, war and Vegas!

We woke up to a good sunny morning, the very next day (I think that’s very important to mention when writing a Vegas travelogue. I even made it bold for good measures ). 😀

Our day kicked off after a good breakfast to see the city aped marvellously.

Vegas, Hotel Paris, las vegas, things to do in las vegas, traveler, travel to vegas, bellagio

Walked through casinos after casinos and taking in some much needed sun.

So Vegas does really sleep during the day!

That’s New York, New York!

Well, the casino wasn’t great to see from inside.  A continuous stream of scream emanating from the roller coaster followed you all the to the neighbouring casino. While my hubs gave it a thought. I was still recovering from rides of Universal Studios.

That’s one scary roller coaster.

That’s the fairy tale-ish Excalibur.

Again, the casino wasn’t too great. And what were all those kids doing in the casinos anyways??

That’s Luxor, very interesting!

I discovered one thing about myself that I do not (still) enjoy smokey places (like casinos) but I did enjoy the beautiful weather outside.

The Perfect Sky

So far Luxor had been most interesting.

But I was yet to see The Venetian!

Vegas, Hotel Paris, las vegas, things to do in las vegas, traveler, travel to vegas, bellagio

Rialto Bridge!! For God’s sake….what should i expect next…I was wondering.

The Venetian was certainly the most fascinating one. More or less, an unabridged version of the real Venice. Lock, stock and barrel with a Rialto, the gondolas, the singing. Its worth seeing especially if Venice falls far in travel plans, you can get a feel of it here. Or better take a preview before you travel there. Venice is not everybody’s cup of it. But I must say that the gondoliers are better dressed than some of the Venetian ones.

Although we did not gamble in the casinos ( yes I do hear a resonating WHAT?!?! but let me finish), I gambled where I knew it was a win-win situation. And that was at some favourite shops (with different stocks as seen in New York and L.A). 🙂

A show in The Venetian

The decors in all the places were nothing short of theatrical.

The most flamboyant ‘spring’ ever!

Happy love!

Thats as far as the city goes…

This pictures is the final one from our short trip to Vegas.  We covered a few more casinos but they all mean and look the same to me. This is probably the last image of place in mind too as we wrapped up the day early to catch an early morning flight to Chicago.

Las Vegas is certainly one of the most interesting cities I’ve visited so far. Also one need not gamble to enjoy the place, there are enough and more activities to do, for example helicopter rides, there are brilliant ‘cirques’ to watch, if you’re up for it and plenty of restaurant.

Nothing is ‘too much’ (or too less)  in Vegas. All the life, light and ‘swag’ lies huddled around the strip. One will surely be amazed and amused to see the largest ever representation of the ‘world’ that stands undivided around and along a km long stretch of the strip. Vegas has taken in nature on a deal too, with thunder, lightening and rain under their control!

Hope you enjoyed reading. I’ll be back soon. Keep sending your love 🙂
