Take a bow…

Hello there! Bonjour! Namaste!

Hoping you all are in pink of health and glowing. Incase you asked, me too!! 🙂  and in case you aren’t too sure, this  project of mine just goes out to show that.

In today’s DIY project, I combined this vibrant pink coloured lace from my mother and a plain cream-ish quarter sleeve top that I bought in India, over a year ago. Lovely material but lacked style. My main motive behind buying it was to add a bit of styling as the price tag also gave a heads up for my experimentations. Yes, initially it was the price tag that decided how much of the free rein is allowed to the horses of my imagination!!

Lets move on to how I went about it, using…

I wanted to have a pattern that would go on both the shoulders and sleeves so I thought of making a sort of bow (not a sharp one), with a pompom in between. That was the simple, basic idea.

Since the crease at the centre of the sleeve was very obvious I used it as a reference point to take measure of the length of one side of the bow and cut it.

Arranged it on the sleeve to see how it looks. And then I did

Just so that you know, the pompoms I’m using are available as a part of lace as well as individually. I couldn’t find the pink one’s individually, so I cut them off a lace I had.

So one half of the bow looks ready here…

…and I repeated the same thing to create a full bow that looks like this.

I used just the half bow design on each shoulder. Have a look.

So thats how it turns out at the end.

I rounded off  the ‘going-to-shop-at-farmer’s-market’ look with a small jute bag. A pair of embroidered jooti’s and lac bangles.

This was one of my initial projects so please pardon the lack of a pre-style picture. But believe me it was as plain as possible. Honestly, I was so happy on finishing this project at that time that I had to share it with you, regardless of the the missing picture. Hope you liked it.
