All set to fly…a diamante dragonfly.

Welcome to my Blog guys!

It always makes me happy to see you here. Today I’m sharing with you a very simple idea of mine. I’ve been seeing a lot of diamanté work on tee-shirts, back pockets of jeans also on lot of Indian clothes, shoes, bags and hair accessories, you name it. And few diamanté beads add a few more zeros to the price too. And I still haven’t figured out how and why. Because as far as I know, they aren’t very expensive, especially the non stone ones also most of the time, all you need to do is glue them in place, easy-peasy. Sometimes you can iron them in place, which I feel is a more long lasting method than just gluing. Which works fine if you use the garment/shoe/bag sparingly.

Let me share with you, how simple it is to do all by yourself.

I took a striped tee shirt that had some silver sheen undertone to it, to begin with. Also some diamanté beads, fabric glue, a cotton towel/cloth, iron box.

I love dragon flies, have them in slides, necklaces, clothes 🙂 therefore I settled for dragonfly motif. Also they speak of summer and are easy to draw.

I drew a dragon fly with marking pencil just below the neck line, towards one side of the shirt, like this…

Then I placed a cotton cloth between the front and back of the tee shirt, this helps to prevent the beads sticking to the back of the shirt.

Then I arranged the beads following the pattern I drew and placed another cloth over it and ironed it. Keep the setting of the iron according to the material of your tee shirt.  Move the iron over it twice or thrice and that’s it. It gets fixed. Firmly so.

Or you can stick each bead following the outline using fabric glue. Since not all beads can be attached by ironing (the one’s that can, have a green coloured back), you might have to use fabric glue….

…and this is almost done.

I added a few more beads at the tail end of the dragon fly so that it seams like, it came flying and settled over my shirt! 🙂

You can wash it, wear it and it won’t go anywhere.

Very simple, isn’t it?  You can use your creativity to make patterns you like on clothes you like, in colours you like. But do share with me. I’m looking forward to it.

Leave your comments, they are eagerly awaited.

Take care, stay crafty  🙂
