A dash of lace…

Namaste! Bonjour! Hello!

Its great to see you here!! 🙂

What I’ve got for you, today, is a very simple sewing/sticking project. The ‘hero’ of today’s project is ‘lace’. All I have done is sewed a small piece of simple yellow (yellow being my favourite colour) zig zag lace/ribbon to a dress, a blouse and a box. And that has made all the difference.

I’m dividing this post in three parts. This is Part 1 and features just the dress. The box and the blouse follows. I’m in love with this zig zag unicoloured machine made lace since long and have been using it on my Indian dresses in a lot of ways (Its simplicity leaves a lot to your imagination).  This time I used it on one of my dresses that was never worn before this, for obvious reasons…

And all that I used besides this dress was…

Before I began, I marked the centre of the dress. This can be done by making measurements and then marking the centre but the easier way would be to fold the dress into half at its centre, towards one side and pressing it using your hand. I followed the easier way 🙂

Now you can make a marking with the marking pencil/crayon or can just follow the crease formed on folding it, like I did. I folded the lace into two equal lengths starting from the seam at the waist to the neck line and sewed the two ends together with simple running stitches like this…

I followed this, all the way up and left a little parting just before the neck line to give it an open zipper effect.

It turned out like this….

and with that…..the dress was back in action!!

I ‘dressed’ my dress with a yellow full sleeved stretchy top and combat boots for a sporty look.

For a more feminine twist wear it with heels.

Moral of the Story: A dash of lace adds loads of grace!

Hope you like this sunshiny look. Let me know. And stay tuned, I’m coming back with a post worth a ‘treasure’. Believe me.
